Public transport in Helsinki area during ESOSLI 2016

 

There are many ways of traveling in Helsinki and the neighboring cities: bus, tram, train, metro and even a ferry to Suomenlinna. The company that runs these modes of transport is HSL. Here is a link to their website in English https://www.hsl.fi/en

Tickets and fares

It is possible to buy both single tickets and day tickets which are valid 1-7 days. The price of the ticket varies according to how long the ticket is valid and which cities are included.

 

Here are the prices for tickets valid in Helsinki only. This Helsinki ticket is also valid on the ferry to Suomenlinna, should you want to go there.

Salespoints

Bus and tram drivers as well as conductors on commuter trains sell single tickets. Tickets for 1-7 days can be bought both at ticket machines and many kiosks and stores, for example R-kioski.

 

 

Traveling from the center of Helsinki to the Light house (Valkea talo, Ilkantie 4)

There are two busses that you can take from the center of Helsinki to Valkea talo. Busses 40 or 43. Travel time is about 25 minutes. The name of the stop in the center is “Elielinaukio”, and the name of the stop at Valkea talo is “Haagan ammattikoulu”. Here are the links to the timetables of both busses.
