Let us introduce you ESOSLI organizing crew !!

This is how we got there and here..

Jebaubzujebajee! Was the first thing what came out from Emilia´s mouth after we had booked our flights to ESOSLI conference 2014. It was Emilia´s idea to participate, and we all are really glad we did it! Theme for the conference was ”working together”. Dianne, Samantha, Wieteke and Renée made an awesome work organizing this conference. Thank you again for that!! We were really in to the theme in different workshops and maintaining same theme in interesting lectures. We got unique oportunity to meet sign language students from all over the world and share experiences with them. This of course is the main idea of organizing ESOSLI. Even before arriving to Utrecht we realized that we would have lot to offer in Finland for sign language students. That´s when we decided that we would be housting next ESOSLI. Even that it was decided on our minds, our hands were sweating after ESOSLI future workshop, there we brought our idea to public. Girls kept us nervious untill the very end of the conference, but then they published it, ”The next ESOSLI conference goes to.. FINLAND” And now, our time is coming! We hope you all will enjoy this amazing event which we will organize with lot of love to sign language! And keep your minds open.. your country could be the next one for ESOSLI 2018, right?!

Anniina Salminen

My name is Anniina and I am just about to graduate as a sign language interpreter. I have always been interested in different languages and cultures - that is why I started studying Finnish sign language. Maybe that's also the reason why I wanted to be part of Esosli crew 2016. Hope to see you soon in Helsinki! Let's Esosli!

Annika Taskinen

Emilia Tuuliaho

Me, 28 years old vagabond, traveler, waitress, student. Always my next destination on my mind, cant get enought from exploring new cultures and countries. I love to travel and i love what i study, so i hope soon im able to link these two things together to be my job.. I try to live day by day, even that im planing the future all the time. My orientation in sign language studies is internationality, as you already might have quessed. Well no idea what that really means but sounds just like me:) I was really impressed about ESOSLI 2014 in Utrecht. It was a great way to make these people gather and share what they have to give to an others. I could not be more proud to be a part of next ESOSLI organizing team. What i hope from ESOSLI 2016? I hope this conference will be as great as it is right now in my head. And if it will be even half of that, i would be more than happy. Hope to see you guys in Helsinki!!!

Teemu Myöhänen

My name is Teemu and I’m 27 years old student from Kuopio, Finland.

The reason I want be part of ESOSLI is that it’s a once in a lifetime chance. Opportunity to organize something like this is just too huge to miss. My intrest on signlanguage and interpreting is… complicated :) sometimes I love it, and sometimes not so much. Studying has been hard but I’m determined to go till the very end and finish my studies. Points of intrest in my studies are deaf blind interpreting and many things related to that. ESOSLI and deaf blind are also going to be huge part of my thesis.

My free time I spend in training in the gym, mountain biking, fishing, snowboarding, wakeboarding, Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and sometimes when I go crazy I might even read a book… :)

I hope to see YOU ALL here in Finland so we can make a great conference and show you a small piece of Finnish culture and how things are done here in the rough and cold north.

Welcome to ESOSLI 2016!

I’m Annika, soon 23 years old Finn who’s completely in love with all kind of sports, white wine and sauna. I have always been interested in communication and languages. Despite my passion towards Sign Language, I’m planning to continue studying after graduation. I haven´t decided yet what I really want to do in the future, it can be anything between interpreting theater and rescuing polar bears.

I’m so thrilled that I get this opportunity to be a part of this amazing ESOSLI-team that we have here, and even more excited to meet all of you guys in Helsinki! We meet there, right? So get ready, keep signing and we see You in Helsinki!
